Year 6 London trip

On 14th September we took our Year 6 children on a trip to London. We had an appointment in the Houses of Parliament which we were all excited about, but before we went , we took the children to see as many of the sights that we could fit in!

It was a beautiful sunny day in London so we started with a boat trip down the Thames starting at Westminster and travelling to Tower Bridge and back .

We then walked to the Cenotaph and spent time at Horseguards Parade where we were lucky enough to see the changeover of the guards .

After that Mr Bussey’s group headed off to Westminster for their tour and Mrs Smiths group marched through the park past Nelson’s Column , and down the Mall until we reached our aim of Buckingham Palace.

We just about made it back for our appointment at the Houses of Parliament ! We had a tour around with a guide and we watched debates in the House of Lords and the House of Commons before spending time in the Great Hall where we saw where the Queen lay in state exactly a year before we visited !

Mr Bussey’s group had finished their workshop and went to look at some of the statues that we have learned about in assembly while Mrs Smiths group did their debating workshop . Both groups also had a question and answer session with an MP. It was a very long day but we packed lots in and we all really enjoyed it .

Reception and Year 6 Buddies!

We have had a good start to the Autumn Term and are happy to report that the new children in school have settled down nicely into their new routines.

One of the most daunting times for the children can be lunchtime and so to begin with we partner them with a Year 6 child who already knows the lunchtime routine and will help them find their way and is also someone to talk to and play with and another recognisable face around the school. Thank you Year 6 buddies for all your help!

We have added some photos for you to look at below.
