A special Judo assembly!

Gemma Howell, local Judo Olympian, visited Moorfield today to promote Judo as a sport as well as her own achievements. She also demonstrated some moves on some of the teachers!

Gemma explained to the children what life was like for an Olympian including a tight training schedule, the highs and lows and work involved to maintain her achievements. Gemma recently won silver in the Commonwealth games and is hoping to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics !

Reception in the Forest!

Today Reception had their first visit to the forest and had a wonderful time!  Children will have their ‘Treetop Thursday’ time every Thursday afternoon, so if your child has not yet bought in a pair of wellies, could we have them for next week?  Many thanks…..

Year 2 Walk to Newport

Year 2 have taken part in a very special walk around the local area.

As we were learning to find our way around Newport as part of our Geography topic, we also paid our respects to the late Queen.

We went into Twigs flower shop and they very kindly gave us some flowers, which we later laid at The Buttercross. We also popped into the Guildhall to write in the book of condolence.

Our new Reception class

We were very happy to welcome our new Reception class on 7th September and they have settled in really well.

Here are a few photos of their first week in school, including the lunchtime buddies and a visit to Miss Hedges in the office!
