As part of our topic day, the children have looked at tsunami’s and how they work.

They have created wordles that represent vocabulary associated with tsunami’s. they also created their own tsunami’s in the classroom.

Base 2 are constructing bridges out of paper. They have a budget of £20 to buy materials and hire equipment. Glue, rulers, scissors are being hired in 5 or 10 minute slots. All paper, Sellotape, glue, art straws are chargeable per unit making the children really think about what they use and question whether they really need it!

The target is to build a strong construction but it must also cost effective and within budget!

The other children can loan each other money but it comes at a heavy cost to the purchaser whereas the seller can double their money as an incentive for their own good budgeting skills!

Giant Easter egg arrives at Moorfield!!!

We have been donated this wonderful Giant Easter egg which will be raffled in school for 50p a strip all the proceeds will go to the PTA . The draw will take place next Friday so get your tickets everyone. A big thank you to Mrs Lowndes for the egg.

This weeks leaders of the house points are Ruby with 963 closely followed by Sapphire on 956
Gold on 941 and Emerald on 893 well done everyone.

On Thursday our Team year 3/4 footballers beat Crudgington 3-1. Well done keep scoring..

Breakfast club certificates were awarded this week to Jodie and Lucy.

Base 2 are currently writing their own lyrics and creating their own music ready for a performance before Easter. Here are some of the lyrics written so far.

Here is our finished art work on natural disasters. I think the children had fabulous ideas and you can really see which disaster they have created

Base 1 have been making 3D collages of natural disasters which we have been looking at in our Topic work. There were some brilliant pieces of art created. A big thank you to David who brought in most of the recycled bits and pieces for our collages and that’s why he was our Star of the Week.

Lewis and Jack had the following problem to solve. How would you solve the problem?

First step ,you need to get six straws each the same length. Cut two of them in half.
You now have eight straws , four long and four short arrange your eight straws to make 3 squares, all the same size.

Step 2 use the trial and error method to make the first square.

Next you use your first square with trial and error to work out the second square.

Final step your tree squares should look like this!

It was a sad day for us all today as it was Mrs Joanne Jones last day. Jo has worked at Moorfield for the last four years and we thank her for all her hard work and support. Jo moves on to work in a much larger secondary school, we wish her all the best in her new ventures.
