As part of design and technology during theAutumn term, year 5/6 have designed bags. They have made their pattern before cutting out the fabric of choice. We have tested our sewing skills and when finished the bags will contain festive treats, which we will be making.
What did you enjoy most? What skills have you developed / learnt?
Base 5 are learning about different soils. The soils
were clay soil, normal soil and sandy soil. We are
trying to find out witch soil drains first with 100ml of
Water. Are equipment was water,bowl,stopwatch,
soil(different types),filter,pin,container and measureing jug. We are going to write are instructions.

Today in assembly we lit the first candle in our advent wreath. The children learnt about what each candle represented.
At home we made a trebuchet out of knex and an allastic band. It fires automatically and it can fire knex cogs. we also aimed it at some targets made of paper and a wheel.

30.11.12 Kayban Jack and Henry solved a tricky problem but they solved it by making a 4×4 cube out of unifix blocks, here it is below.

We were very fortunate that the children were able to get hands on with parts of uniform worn by a police officer on an every day basis.
What did you think about the different items?
This week year 5 and 6 have taken part in STAR where they are asked to stop, think, act and reflect. During this week they have talked with WPC Ridgewell about drugs, smoking and alcohol. Today they have seen the effects that smoking has on the body as well as having an opportunity to see what illegal drugs look like.
