Today Reception have been lucky enough to have some of our key stage 2 children visit to read them a story. Reception had a lovely time and were really inspired to develop their own reading aloud skills. Thank you children and we hope you can come and visit us again soon.

As part of their topic on ‘People Who Help Us’ children in Reception made a waterproof outfit for a firefighter on Friday. During the week they had tested lots of different materials by dropping water onto them and observing what happened.

On Friday the children brought in a cuddly toy or doll and dressed it up in a waterproof outfit.

The children really enjoyed this topic and we have added some photographs for you below.

In RHE today ,the children were working on the “Healthy Me” unit of the Jigsaw curriculum.

They were learning about medicine safety including only taking medicine from a trusted adult and only taking the correct dosage.

The children were given a selection of medicines and had to help Jigsaw Jo choose which one would help with a headache.

The children then made posters to help other children learn about the dangers of medicine.

The children were very excited to use the gym equipment last week – they will be doing gymnastics for the rest of this half term.

On Friday Reception had a visit from our local Police Community Support Officers. The children enjoyed asking lots of questions and got the chance to handle and also got to try on some items of police uniform.  After putting on their own police identity badges (the children had typed these themselves on our class computers)  the children headed outside to see the police van. They were given the choice of either sitting in the cells or having a go at operating the siren in the front seat. As you can see, we had lots of fun!

Base 3 have done some lovely pastel silhouette art work of Stonehenge

This week Reception had a visit from the dental nurse to talk about how to take care of our teeth. The children met Derek the Dinosaur and had a go at brushing his teeth correctly.

The Reception children visited the church this week. We have included some photographs for you to see.

Mrs Branch said they all lying on the floor so that they can see the beautiful ceiling of the church!

On Thursday, the school had a music assembly to introduce drums as an instrument that may be taught in school.

After the assembly, Reception children made music on “drums” in the outside area.

A particular favourite was “We will Rock You”!
