Base 2 – Polyrhythms

Base 2 have been learning about polyrhythms this afternoon. If, like me ,you’re not sure what a polyrhythm is, then this is the description I found when I turned to Google!

Polyrhythm, also called Cross-rhythm, the simultaneous combination of contrasting rhythms in a musical composition. Rhythmic conflicts, or cross-rhythms, may occur within a single metre (e.g., two eighth notes against triplet eighths) or may be reinforced by simultaneous combinations of conflicting metres.”

STEM WORKSHOP – YEAR 5 AND 6

Today some of the Year 5 and 6 children took part in a STEM workshop. The children were looking at strong structures and worked in groups to design and build their own.

We have added some photographs which show the children concentrating while making a plan and also some of the finished structures.
