Base 1’s Morning – Maths and Science
In Base 1 today the children were looking at planets and the distance between them. The Maths part was ratio and proportion and the Science part was how the planets were organised and how far away from each other they were. The topic at the moment is Space, so children learned an element of each subject this morning in one lesson.
The children used toilet paper to show a scaled-down version of how far the planets of the solar system are from the sun. If the Sun was by the zebra crossing at the front of school, Mercury would be six sheets of toilet paper away from it and Neptune would be all the way round to the exit gate!
Who called the Police?!
Moorfield Primary Reception class had a visit from the police today. Luckily no-one had been naughty but the children all learned lots about what the police do to keep everyone safe.
Maisie’s Footballing Achievement
Maisie has done very well and has just signed her first 1 year contract with West Bromwich Albion.
Well done Maisie , you have worked really hard.
Base 8 Maths
Base 8 have been learning about money in maths this week and enjoyed finding the correct amount to make their purchases.
The children were also set some extension homework and Jacob sent his in for everyone to see.
Big Bee Challenge!
Last week , Year 2 were learning about bees and their habitat and as part of this they were making garden prototypes and then the best bits of each prototype were put together as a garden to enter into the Radio Two Big Bee Challenge!
We were so impressed with the work that the children did and the garden has really come together with lots of flowers to attract bees and benches for people to sit and enjoy the garden that the children designed.

Year 6 Ice Cream Treat!
It is customary at the end of SATS week to get the ice cream man in! Well done Year 6’s!
Base 3 – Euro 2020
Base 3 have been working hard to produce flags of all 24 countries participating in the Euro 2020 championship.
To help keep their interest during the competition they are completing a wall chart each day with the results of all the games.
As part of the fun, each child (including Mr. Smart and Mrs Holloway) has pulled a flag out of a hat and is following that country through the competition to see how far they can get.
Who will be our Base 3 Euro 2020 winner?
Base 4 Maths
Today Base 4 have been outside for Maths and have been working out the age of trees.
Once they have worked out the age, they have also been learning how to convert inches and centimetres.
Base 8 Music
Year 1 were very excited on Friday because they got to play some djembe drums that Miss Cliff delivered! They have been learning about Sub- Saharan African music in their music lessons this term and having these drums really brought the music to life
