Base 5 and Base 6 were lucky enough to do some outdoor learning at Deer Park this week.
Both classes took part in a nature day and we have added some photos so that you can see some of the activities that took place.

Base 5 – Egyptians
Year 3 and 4 are learning about the Egyptians. We were lucky enough to borrow some artefacts from the library and the children in Base 5 enjoyed working with them in their lessons last week.
Children were exploring the Egyptian artefacts linked to their current topic: Ancient Egypt.
The children were thinking about the following questions “What was it used for?”, “What skills were needed to make it?” and “What does this tell us about life in Ancient Egypt?”
Ask your children at home to talk to you about some of the things that they saw.
Thursday in Year 3/4
Year 3/4 are working on a variety of subjects this morning!
Base 3 have been doing Maths. They have been learning about partitioning and making exchanges.
The are learning that a number can be partitioned into smaller parts, finding out how partitioning can help their calculations and they are practicing exchanging ones for tens, tens for hundreds and hundreds for thousands.
Base 6 were doing literacy when I stopped by and are learning about paragraphs. There were some interesting discussions going on about where writing needs a new paragraph and why.
Ask your children if they can tell you about the 3 T’s! (Time and place, Topic, Talking)
Base 5 are doing music. We learn music with the help of the School Arts Trust (which some of you will know as TACT). Today one of their staff is in and children across the school will have a lesson at some point today – the children in Base 5 were really enjoying it!
Welcome Back!
For the last few months, we have been using the school blogs to keep the children in touch with school and to let us know what they have been up to on lockdown or in school if they were able to return in June. We loved seeing everything the children were doing. It was great to keep up with the work the children were doing as well as seeing the fun they were having outdoors and in the kitchen (lots of lovely baking going on!) But most importantly, we hope it gave the children and the staff a continued link with school.
The last few weeks have been busy with new arrangements for opening school and the children have settled in well and are getting used to all the new arrangements.
Starting this week, we plan to start using the blogs again to keep up with what is going on in the classrooms and show you some of the learning that is taking place across the school.

Jessica says hello
Jessica and her brother came with their Mummy to pick someone up from school and stopped by Base 5 to say hello. Base 5 were very happy to see her!
Bubble B’s Wildlife Drawings
We took cover in the shade and drew some detailed sketches of a variety of leaves and flowers. It was a challenge to add lots of detail using just one pencil but some of them turned out brilliantly. We would love to see what some of the children at home have been sketching.
William’s Work!
William has been doing lots of work at home.
He has done a dancing raisin experiment and he also made a natural rainbow.
For Beavers, they were asked to dress as a famous painting and William dressed as a Van Gogh self portrait!
We particularly like the self portrait William – well done!
