Year 4 Spring Explorers

The Year 4 children went to the Spring Explorer workshop at Deer Park today.

They learned about food groups, ate insects, did some pond dipping and worked with Sensory boxes.

The bug eating was one of the favourites, with some of them commenting that it was like an “I’m a Celebrity” trial!

Base 5 Science

Miss Oliver’s class have been working outside to see what happens to sound over long distances. They used home-made ‘telephones’ to explore this as this links to our current science topic – sound.

Ukelele Lessons

Music Heroes are in school on Tuesdays delivering ukelele lessons to Year 3 and 4.

Last week they played the chords for ‘Demons’ by Imagine Dragons and ‘Shake it off!’ By Taylor Swift.  They then progressed onto something more tricky, playing the reggae rhythm, and riff for ‘3 little birds’ by Bob Marley.

All the children are really enjoying their lessons.

Here are some photographs from Base 6 – just look at the concentration on their faces!

Diwali Celebrations

The whole school celebrated Diwali last week by decorating the hall and a whole school assembly . Reception also took part in activities in the classroom .

Base 8 also had a wonderful day learning about Diwali.

They made their own Diva lamp, created Rangoli patterns with chalk and enjoyed a Diwali feast.

Meera from year 4 shared with us some photos from her own celebrations at home .

Stone Age Day

Year 3 and 4 topic this term is The Stone Age.

On Monday we had a Stone Age Day and children had a visit from a caveman, a cavewoman and some of their wares!

It was a great way to bring the topic alive.
